AD5 2026 Competition: Start Preparing for Your Reasoning Tests Now

Verbal, Numerical and Abstract Reasonings

Discover the methods and strategies you need to practise effectively and improve both your accuracy and speed.

Good preparation is not just about completing as many exercises as possible. First, you need to understand the logic behind each test, master the right techniques, analyse your mistakes and gradually develop automatic responses.

The 3 reasoning tests you need to master

The AD5 competition requires you to use three types of reasoning. Each has its own challenges and requires a specific approach.

You must determine whether a statement can be logically deduced from the information contained in a text.

The challenge? Avoid being influenced by your personal knowledge or by what seems intuitively true.

To improve, learn to:

  • quickly identify relevant information;
  • distinguish between what is explicitly stated and what can actually be deduced;
  • spot misleading or tricky wording;
  • reason accurately about concepts such as always, never, some, could, must, at least, etc.;
  • gradually improve your speed.

You must interpret numerical data, understand tables or charts, and perform the calculations needed to answer the questions.

It is not simply about being “good at maths”. The main challenge is to understand the data quickly and choose the right reasoning approach or calculation.

In particular, practise:

  • percentages and percentage changes;
  • proportions and ratios;
  • averages;
  • data comparisons;
  • quickly reading tables and charts.

You must identify the logical rules and transformations connecting different figures.

To improve, learn to systematically observe:

  • the position of the elements;
  • their number;
  • their orientation;
  • their shape and size;
  • their fill or shading;
  • rotations and movements;
  • elements that appear or disappear.

With practice, you will gradually learn to recognise transformations more quickly and develop genuine automatic responses.

The keys to effective preparation

The tests are timed, so you may be tempted to start immediately with exercises under time pressure.

However, effective preparation follows a different approach:

Understand → Practise → Automate → Speed Up

Start by learning the methods and understanding the different types of questions.

Then practise without immediately focusing on the clock. Analyse your mistakes and identify the methods that help you save time.

Once you have mastered the techniques, gradually introduce time pressure.

The goal is not simply to answer correctly. It is to answer correctly and quickly.

An incorrect answer is not simply a mistake: it is information about your preparation.

After each practice session, ask yourself:

  • Did I misunderstand the question?
  • Did I use the wrong method?
  • Did I make a calculation error?
  • Did I overlook some information?
  • Was I misled by the wording?
  • Did I run out of time?

This analysis helps you identify your weaknesses and focus your training where it is genuinely useful.

Once you have mastered the methods, it is essential to gradually expose yourself to real test conditions.

Practise with:

  • a timer;
  • complete test sets;
  • questions with a difficulty level comparable to those in the competition;
  • the computer environment used for the tests;
  • the tools permitted during the assessment.

The goal?

Arrive at the competition having already encountered the types of questions, methods and time pressure you will face.

To support your preparation for the AD5 2026 competition, we have selected dedicated resources for verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning.

Whether you want to learn the methods, practise with a wide range of exercises or test yourself under timed conditions, choose the tools that match your level and your objectives.
